This map drawn and engraved by James Wallis, was first published in 1812 in Wallis's New Pocket Edition of the English Counties or Travellers Companion. It was subsequently re-issued in 1818 in the quoted almanack published by P. Martin, from which this example comes.

This map was drawn and engraved by James Wallis and first appeared in Wallis's English Atlas in 1813. It subsequently appeared in Ellis's New and Correct Atlas of England and Wales, and then in 1842 was copied by lithographic transfer for Wyld's Atlas of English Counties. This example has no imprint and dates from an edition of Ellis's atlas in 1819 or 1822.Original full wash colour.

Maps for this miniature atlas were probably drawn and engraved by James Wallis, though alternative imprints serve to confuse the issue, some crediting Wallis as the printer and W. Reid as the publisher, and other listing Wallis and C. Hinton as co-publishers. It is most likely that Hinton had an early interest in the project, but dropped out before publication in 1820 to be replaced by Reid. Ownership of the plates later passed to Hodgson and Co. who issued a further edition with slightly amended title in 1825. This example, in original bright colour, has no imprints, and is from the 1820 first edition..

There were later editions of the work between 1818 and 1836 inder the titles of Martin's Sportsman's Almanack, Kalender, and Traveller's Guide, and subsequently as Lewis's New Traveller's Guide. For both these latter issues the map imprints were changed.
